Wispkin Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 4, 2026
Wispkin is a macOS app that helps you turn voice input into cleaned-up text for use with your LLM, editor, terminal, chat app, or other tools. This policy explains what Wispkin handles, what stays on your Mac, and when data may be sent to services you configure.
Summary
Wispkin is designed around user-controlled AI providers. We do not need to run an intermediary Wispkin server to process your voice commands. When you configure a third-party AI provider, your audio or text may be sent directly from your Mac to that provider so it can perform transcription or correction.
Information Wispkin Handles
- Audio recordings you create while using the app.
- Transcribed text generated from those recordings.
- Corrected text produced by your selected AI provider.
- Provider settings, selected models, prompts, output preferences, and hotkey settings.
- API keys you enter for supported AI providers.
How Wispkin Uses Information
- Record your voice when you intentionally start recording.
- Send audio to your selected transcription provider, if required by that provider.
- Send transcribed text to your selected correction provider.
- Insert, paste, copy, or display the cleaned text in your local macOS workflow.
- Save app settings so Wispkin works consistently between launches.
Third-Party AI Providers
Wispkin supports user-configured AI providers. Depending on your settings, these providers may include services such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, Perplexity, or other supported providers.
Your audio, transcription, corrected text, prompts, and related request data may be sent to the provider you configure. Your use of that provider is governed by the provider's own terms, privacy policy, retention policy, and security practices.
No Wispkin Intermediary Server
Wispkin is designed so requests can be made from your Mac to the AI provider you configure. We do not require your voice commands to pass through a Wispkin-operated server before reaching your selected provider.
Local Storage
Wispkin stores settings locally on your Mac, including provider choices, model choices, correction prompts, hotkey settings, output preferences, and API keys.
Analytics, Tracking, and Data Selling
Wispkin does not need analytics, advertising trackers, or behavioral profiling to provide its core functionality. We do not sell your personal information.
Security
Wispkin's security model is based on minimizing unnecessary intermediaries and letting users choose their own providers. However, no software or network transmission can be guaranteed to be perfectly secure.
